Game contents 1 monkey, 32 grimace cards (16 grimaces as green cards, 16 as blue cards), 28 banana cards, 1 mirror card, 1 die, 1 set of instructions
Game 1: Monkey faces An exciting facial expressions guessing game for 2 to 6 children.
Preparation Place the blue cards face up in the center of the table where they can be easily reached by everyone. Shuffle the green cards face down and stack them next to the blue animal cards. Have the banana cards ready as well as the mirror card if you occasionally want to check your faces. The monkey and die are not needed for this game and go back into the box. How to play Play in a clockwise direction. The child who can make the funniest facial expression may begin. Take the deck with the green face cards and secretly look at the top card. Say “monkey faces” and imitate the face on the card. Which facial expression was imitated? All of the other players look for the blue face card that matches the facial expression and place their hand on the card.
NOTE: Only one hand may be placed on a card. And when a hand is placed, it’s placed: You may no longer change your mind. If you agree that the correct blue face card has been covered by a hand and you therefore no longer can cover it, continue immediately with the check. Check who covered the correct face card? Now compare the blue cards covered by the hands with the green card. The child who has placed their hand on the correct blue face card gets a banana card as a reward. In addition, the child who made the facial expression gets a banana card as a reward. If no child has their hand on the correct face card, no one gets a banana card, not even the child who made the face. The imitated green card is removed from the game. The blue cards remain in place. Then the next child in a clockwise direction gets the deck with the green face cards and imitates the next facial expression.
Game 2: Monkey see, monkey do A cooperative memory game for 1 - 6 players.
Preparation Choose eight different animal faces from the blue cards. Then take the same eight animal faces from the green face cards. The remaining face cards go back in the box. ENGLISH 13Lay out the 18 banana cards in a row in the center of the table. Place the monkey in front of the first banana card. Shuffle the green and blue face cards separately. Then place them face down and separated by color on each side next to the banana cards. Have the mirror card ready if you occasionally want to check your faces. ENGLISH How to play Play in a clockwise direction. The child who can make the best face begins and places the monkey on the first banana card. Turn over a green card. Imitate the expression of the animal pictured. Then turn over a blue animal card. Do both cards show the same face? • Yes? Fantastic! You may take both cards and place them in front of you. • No? Too bad! Remember both animal heads and turn the face cards back over. Now the next child in the clockwise direction places the monkey on the next banana card.
Game 3: Who will become the banana king?
In addition to both of the game ideas described, you can also play according to the following rules: • From both face card sets (green and blue), select 8 of the same animal faces and shuffle them. Place the remaining face cards in the box. Lay out the 8 blue cards face down in the center of the table. Place the 8 green cards face down in a circle around the blue cards. The monkey is placed on any green card. Have the banana cards, the mirror card, and the die ready. • A child rolls the die and moves the monkey forward accordingly. Turn over the green card and imitate the face. Now try to turn over the matching blue card. • Did you turn over the right blue card? Then you may take a banana card as a reward and place it in front of you. • Did you turn over another blue card? Then everyone together imitates the face on the blue card. Then it’s the next child’s turn. He/she turns over both cards and rolls the die. Which facial expression will be looked for now? The game ends when a child gets their third banana card and thereby wins the game.
